This party is modeled on the Ultreyas we’ve been throwing in our cultural space for the past 6 years. It happens in two acts: the first is a Cabaret with performances by special invites; the second is a party with music and short performances scattered throughout the rest of the night.
To get specific, during the first act, Nau de Ícaros invites a variety of artists from the local community to present for 10-15 minutes each. The aims of this act are to promote a cultural interchange between different groups and people. All told, this act should last a maximum of 90 minutes.
In the second portion of the Ultreya, when the party has already gotten underway, our dj’s will be spinning “Brazilian Music” in its most diverse styles. We will also have a number of short artistic interventions/ performances happening throughout the night, and will count on members of the local community and those of the Companhia to carry these out. These interventions happen without any previous warning, causing a sense of surprise in the partygoers. A guaranteed winner for the partyers will be a short Maracatu presentation that never fails to get the crowd involved.
All of the presentations, both from special invites and from members of the Companhia, will be organized, defined, and confirmed prior to the event, thus guaranteeing that the activities run smoothly.
A dazzling aerial performance with a “trapeze duo” that hangs from the (anchored) balloon 20 meters above the ground. The duo performs an elegant number that passes to the public a real sense of risk, (while all precautions are taken to guarantee the performers’ safety).
The balloon would be the Grand Finale after having gone through the whole list of the other activities this project offers. A musical troupe playing live Brazilian rhythms will accompany the inflation, the take-off, and the performance of “trapeze duo.”
The balloon will be piloted by Sacha Haim, the current two-time Brazilian Hot-Air Balloon Champion and gold medal winner in the Natural World Games.
Matheus, a circus ringleader, abandons the show in search of things he has not yet experienced in life, but his trajectory takes an unexpected turn when his escape taxi suffers an accident.
Fronteiras is a show where fiction and reality move forward on parallel paths. The public does not simply watch; it experiences the vibrant world of fantasy together with the actors, jugglers, and dancers. In order to tell the story of this ringleader and his encounter with a mysterious dancer, Companhia Cênica look for inspiration in the folk-cultural traditions of “Cavalo Marinho.” This traditional street theater serves as a poetic-cultural counterpoint to the urban pulse, and in turn creates a performance-party situated on the frontier between traditions; right on the ethical, aesthetic, and emotional fault lines.
